The records showed modest but consistent profit. Oscar had a huge bank account and the willingness to risk it all for a one-unit-per-cycle win. He had won from it for many years!
Allan Wilson ran 280,000 sequence simulations and the analysis showed that while Oscar was a bit lucky, it was not at all impossible.

In the short to medium run Oscar's Grind might, just like any other roulette system, give you a profit if you are lucky. Still, in the long run, this system will not work and you will end up with a loss. The system goes like this: You bet one unit on an even-money bet. If you win, there is no sequence and you start from scratch again. If you lose, then your next bet will be of the same size as the one you just lost. If you win, then your next bet is one unit larger than the previous bet. When winning you will continue to increase the size of the bet with one unit until the whole sequence gives a profit of one unit or more. At this point, you will bet just enough to give you an accumulated profit of one unit. See example in the table above. |

This system is the most conservative and least volatile of all of the systems presented here; but it will still lose money in the long run. However, in our opinion it is still the best of the systems presented here and it will improve your chances of being lucky in the short run. Just remember to set a maximum limit of how much you are ready to lose in a single spin.
