Maple Casino:
Maple Casino is a Microgaming-powered online casino with a strong Canadian theme running throughout. However, this doesn't mean the casino is only for Canadian players - indeed, Maple is popular across the world and is a part of the huge Vegas Partner Lounge casino group.

As with many casinos that operate using Microgaming software, Maple Casino is available both in download and Flash versions. For those wanting a quick bout of gambling, the no-download Flash option is an easy way to get up and running very quickly. However, the download version only takes a few minutes to install, particularly on a broadband connection. And for those who find any download is too much, there's a free software CD available that can be ordered directly from the website. It is always a good sign in my book when casinos offer extra little touches like this.

I had no problems with the installation, and was pretty soon ready to play. Although I had to go through the download process, I had actually played at Maple Casino in the past and as such simply had to enter my username and password to get playing. However, for those that are brand new to the casino, registration is simple - just a little form-filling is required to have a new account created.

The next step for any gambler wanting to try their luck is to visit the cashier. As with installation and account creation, depositing is really easy at Maple. As this is a Canadian-themed casino, Maple can be played in Canadian dollars. However, US $, UK £ and Euro accounts can also be created. Similarly, a wide range of depositing options are available; including credit cards, NETeller and a host of other popular methods. A nice touch at Maple is that the banking section of the website lists all the different deposit options available along with the different currencies the option can be used for. I opted to make a $100 deposit in to my casino account via the NETeller option.

Incidentally, all new players are entitled to a generous welcome bonus - a $40 deposit is matched by $60. That means all new players can have a starting bankroll of $100 for a relatively small deposit. Maple Casino also runs an on-going 15% deposit bonus that is credited at the end of the month. Along with loyalty points and competitions such as the 'win a BMW' event taking place when I was playing, it's clear that Maple's aim to reward both new and loyal players with extra little perks. Remember though; check the terms and conditions before playing a bonus!

Maple has a wealth of games available, and has grouped them by type to make each one easy to find. For example, the table menu lists games such as Blackjack and Three Card Poker; whereas the Slot menu offers a sub menu of games based on number of reels. I usually start reviews with some table play, but decided on this occasion to check out the slots first.

Maple offers a huge number of slot games, ranging from easy-to-play three-reel, one-line slots to multi-line video slots offering huge progressive jackpots. For example, the King Cashalot game was offering a jackpot of over $0.5m at the time of playing. The Major Millions game has paid out jackpots of over $1.5 in the past! With figures like this, I can see what the attraction of slot games is!

Although I liked the idea of winning a progressive, I decided to keep my goal modest, and as such opted to play the 5-Reel Drive slot game. This brightly colored game can be played with a coin size ranging from $0.25 to $2, and as such makes the maximum bet $18. While this was plenty high enough for me, I have seen higher elsewhere, which suggests Maple is aiming for the low to medium player in terms of bet size.

In terms of presentation, this game really cannot be faulted. Vibrant graphics and addictive sound effects really add to this games playability. The super-fast game pace also makes it really easy to get lost in the game. Of course, a few decent wins also help to keep a player gambling away, and thankfully this game did throw out a few decent wins. Unfortunately, it also went through a few cold patches - and even though I started off well, I still found myself coming away from this game with only just over half of my original bank roll in tact!

Fortunately, the new Chain Mail video slot was a little kinder to me! At a maximum 100 coin per spin bet, I decided to make each coin $0.05 (a $5 bet in total) and thankfully, I had a few decent spins including one where a few wilds appeared rewarding me with $59.50. Another nice spin on the Double Magic game (for $40) meant that pretty soon my bank roll was on the road to recovery! Although I did have a quick go at hitting the $380,000 Major Millions jackpot, I quickly realized it was time to move on!

The next stop for me was the Video Poker selection and, as with the slot games, a huge number of games are available. All Microgaming-powered casinos have had a good range of game types for a while (ranging from classics like Jacks or Better to exciting games like Deuces and Jokers Wild). However, recently Microgaming has been introducing a number of multi-hand games meaning a player can bet on up to 100 hands at once! This really makes the game fun, and can mean that huge amounts of money can be won (or lost) on a single game!

Of course; the same high quality presentation is found in the Video Poker games and I had great fun playing on the 100-hand Deuces Wild game. This really is a volatile game, but when the right cards are dealt at the beginning, the payoffs can be great. I also had fun playing on the All American single hand game. In this game the payoffs for a straight and a flush are 40 coins, which is more than the standard Jacks or Better game. As such, it was nice to see my $5 bets becoming $40 when I got the odd flush here and there.

As I was playing Maple Casino in the reverse fashion to how I usually would, I decided to complete my play with the table games. With my bank balance still below the $100 starting mark, I needed to make some money back! I decided Blackjack was going to be the game to help me out!

I have always liked the Bonus Blackjack game that Maple offers, and I noticed that this was now available in a 5-play version. Well I simply couldn't resist and sat down at the table! This proved to be a good move, as a few big bets I placed on the table won returning my bank balance to pretty much where I started. With a per spot betting limit of $200, it means most people can bet at levels they wish to. However, for those looking to bet thousands on a hand, Maple will not be for them, as again the limits appear to be aimed at the low to medium-size bettor.

The final game I played on was roulette which, like the multi-hand Video Poker, can be a very volatile beast. On this occasion the roulette was neither nice nor nasty, and since I didn't appear to be making any money fast, I decided to call it a day.

Although I wasn't a winner on this occasion, my $100 withdrawal meant I wasn't a loser either. Sometimes it's nice to have a go at winning big and walking away without having lost anything. Cashing chips in is as easy as depositing and I found that within about 48 hours of requesting a payout the funds were in my NETeller account - not bad at all. I do know that sometimes a player has to fax documents to this casino group, but to be honest this is something that every play will run in to once in a while.

Finally, although I didn't need any support assistance, I will still comment on the support available. At Maple, assistance is provided via email, telephone and live chat. I have to say I was impressed with this wide selection of contact options - particularly the good number of toll-free telephone numbers listed. I strongly believe that the support offering of a casino is a good indicator of how good a casino is, and on this point Maple certainly ranks highly.

In conclusion, Maple is a fun casino to play at and will appeal to a wide player base (including Canadians!). The great software offers a good number of games to play at, and betting limits will satisfy most people. Taking in to account the banking and support functions at Maple, my opinion of this casino rises even further. For a fair casino to play at with nice bonuses and great service, Maple is definitely recommended.
