Cameo Casino Review

Sorry, No US Players
Cameo Casino:
At the moment, everywhere I turn I seem to come across another online casino! I guess this is only to be expected given the worldwide appeal of online gambling, but even still, when it comes to writing reviews it means it can be a struggle to keep up! Thankfully I like a gamble every now and again as such when I discovered Playtech-powered Cameo Casino, I decided to combine my two favorite hobbies - playing casino games and writing for Online-Casinos.com!

Despite not knowing much about Cameo casino, I was not concerned about playing here. Firstly, the fact this casino uses the respectable Playtech software was definitely reassuring. Further more, the Cameo website is very well put together with vital information in banking processes etc. available for all prospective players to see.

It is the Cameo website that will be the starting point for any player wanting to enjoy the Cameo games. The casino itself is provided in a download-only format and as such the 344k installer must be downloaded. This small file size will appeal to those on a dial-up connection, although it must be remembered that the installer does then request a further few megabytes of data before play can commence.

Signing-up for a new account at Cameo is simple, and anyone who has played at a Playtech-powered casino will be familiar with the standard new account form that needs to be completed. This basically asks for a player's personal details such as name and address. Once complete, a player is then assigned a unique account number which they use to log in and play with. I created my account without issue and set it up to play in US$. However, Cameo does allow play in Euros and UK £ which is a definite plus.

Once signed up a player can then opt to play the games in practice mode. Whilst entertaining, the real fun of a casino is winning money and as such I logged in to the 'real play' mode. I then headed to the cashier where I made a $100 credit card deposit without any problems. I have to say, the range of deposit options at Cameo is huge with 19 different methods available. These include the standard real world and e-wallet solutions as well some I really hadn't heard of before, Immediate Deposit phone cards being just one of these all-new deposit methods. What's more, many deposit options at Cameo are rewarded with 15% deposit bonuses.

On the subject of bonuses, all new players are entitled to claim the Cameo Casino sign-up bonus. This sign-up bonus actually covers both the first and second deposits a player makes. Firstly, a 100% match is available up to $100. On a second deposit a further 50% bonus can be claimed up to $200. As such, $300 free is available for those happy to accept the terms and conditions attached to these bonuses. From what I could see, these conditions are to wager the bonus and deposit just 8 times, which is very reasonable. On top of the sign-up bonuses, it should be noted that Cameo Casino seems to have a very good on-going bonus program as well. This includes a monthly 50% match bonus offering up to $50 free as well as the e-wallet deposit bonuses.

Having just said how great the bonuses are at Cameo, when I chose to play I actually decided to play without a bonus. Whilst the terms seemed good, I do seem to find myself hitting a really big early win only to end up busting out before wagering conditions are complete. As such, I put a quick call in to support to ensure bonuses were not added at my account.

Whilst I usually comment on support at the end of a review, I may as well cover off this important topic now since I had genuine reason to get in touch. Support is offered via telephone, email and live chat. I have to say I didn't test email support, but with support available 24/7 (according to the website) I would hope any emails would be responded to in a pretty quick time. I did, however, test the live chat support. This is only available from within the casino software itself but works very well - I clicked the button and 'Roger' was ready to help within seconds. The telephone support works well also, although toll-free numbers are only available for US players. This is a slight disappointment, but overall I had no complaints with the Cameo support offering.

When it comes to the casino games at Cameo, a reasonable selection is available (over 80 according to the website) and these are all available through the Cameo lobby. I have heard that Cameo is particularly geared towards attracting female customers and that the graphics have been designed with this in mind. I am not sure whether this is true, but I have to say I was quite impressed with the Cameo lobby. The lobby is a virtual representation of a 'grand' casino with marble floors and a bell boy on hand for all your needs. Although this doesn't really make a difference to how I judge a casino, I do think it is nice that thought is given to these 'extra touches'.

A menu system is used to display all the games available with different games grouped by type, e.g. table. It was the table games that I began with and I decided to dabble with Blackjack surrender. This game plays like normal Blackjack, but a player is able to pull back half their bet (and surrendering the other half) if they really don't think the chances of winning are good. This game is playable at tables populated by other players or at a private table (where between 1 and 5 spots can be played at once). I like it when a casino provides options like this. In fact, the Blackjack games demonstrate the choice available at Cameo - 5 different Blackjack games can be played in total.

I actually started out betting a little big for my bankroll - $5 on 3 different spots - I felt like taking a risk! Those who are more conservative though, will be pleased to know that the minimum bet at Cameo is just $1. The maximum bet is $300 meaning if 5 spots are in play that up to $1500 can be wagered on a single game! My strategy turned out to be pretty poor though, and in fact, I exited the game with just $50 of my original $100 remaining - I guess this can happen when you bet too much!

The next stop for me was the Three Card Poker table. One thing I liked with Cameo is that a good mix of 'traditional' games (such as Blackjack) and newer games (such as this one) are available. I suppose though that because there are no costs associated with hosting a game (unlike in a real casino) that a whole host of games can be made available for the player. Some new games such as Tequila Poker will really appeal to those that like something different.

Anybody that's played Three Card Poker will know it can be a volatile game. However, for me the volatility was a positive thing - almost straight away I was dealt 3 Aces! Suddenly my bank balance was up to the $300 mark and I was back in the zone!

Of course, this win will make anybody pleased, but I have to say that even without this gain I was having fun playing at Cameo. This game, as with Blackjack, played very smoothly and I could see that time and energy has gone in to creating the graphics and sound effects. While on their own these things might not seem that great, when combined they make the games really fun. I have to say I think I'd rather be playing high quality games at home rather than traveling miles to visit a Smoky casino any day of the week!

I did play some of the other table games available, and while these were fun - they weren't doing anything great, so I decided to play the Video Poker games available. Unfortunately, unlike the table games, the selection of Video Poker games at Cameo is not as great. The games that are available are varied and include some multi-hand varieties. However, these multi-hand games are predominantly limited to Jacks or Better games. I don't understand why casinos like Cameo don't simply take 5 or 6 different Video Poker games and then recreate them for 10, 50, 100 etc. hand machines (as with some other casinos sites). I guess this is something they may look at in the future.

Despite this slight criticism, the games that are available play very well. The graphics are perhaps not quite as good as those used at the table games, but nevertheless they are perfectly acceptable. Similarly, the smoothness of the game play is a definite plus - I hate trying to play and being forced to wait all the time for 'internet congestion'.

Specifically I enjoyed playing on the Deuces Wild 4-hand game. This is a fun game to play, although with the introduction of the wild cards it means that the volatility with this game can be huge. Nevertheless I had fun, and whilst not winning anything big - I didn't really lose a lot here either. Unfortunately the same wasn't true with the 10-play Jacks or Better game. For some reason I really thought I'd get a Royal Flush and win the progressive jackpot (a nice $6,000 at the time of playing). This wasn't the case though, and I actually spent $50 of my bankroll trying to get my first Royal!

The last section of the casino for me to check out was the slot machine area. I couldn't decide whether slot players would like Cameo or not. There are a decent number of machines which are varied in their type; however, when compared to some competitor sites the selection at Cameo could be seen as limited. Nevertheless, there are over 30 different slots at Cameo and this was fine for me. Similarly, the variety of games (classic three-reelers, video slots, progressives and more) definitely appealed to me.

One game I particularly enjoyed was the Dr. Lovemore game. This video slot has a cool free spin feature. Although this feature is not the easiest to hit, it's great when it does - I was betting just $2 a spin and managed to get the bonus to hit for almost $75. The other slot I particularly enjoyed was the Bermuda Triangle game (mainly because I recently won $700 on it!) This time though the hits weren't really great, but the graphics and sound effects were fun to experience nevertheless.

All in all I ended up with $200 (after actually getting to a high of $350) and headed to the cashier. Here I was able to request my withdrawal; and after sending in scans of my credit card and waiting a few days while the withdrawal sat in 'pending', the original deposit plus my $100 win was sent to me without delay. All in all, a good show.

As I have discussed support already, I just now need to write my conclusion, and I must say I think Cameo have done a pretty decent job. The selection of games is reasonable and these games are presented in a high quality manner. I do think some players may be slightly disappointed with the Video Poker and Slot selection, but generally Cameo's selection is good. Add to this a good banking function and pretty reasonable support and you are left with a casino that rates well overall. Although perhaps not the best casino available, Cameo could definitely be worth checking out.
